Worship Songs
June 7, 2009
We’ll be led in worship this Sunday by Deborah Klassen. You’ll be blessed by Deborah’s music ministry, but you’ll be challenged by her testimony. Here is a short excerpt from her story:
I have survived many things in my life; abuse, rejection, tremendous fear, clinical depression resulting in a 6-week psychiatric hospitalization, financial loss and the disappointment of torn relationships and faded dreams.
I never imagined, however, that I would have to live through my young son’s debilitating facial cancer, my husband’s brokenness from kidney cancer and then, turn around and face the shattering of that same son’s life-changing, near fatal, catastrophic car accident.
If you had asked me at the start of each phase of my journey if I was going to make it through, I would have said “No”, but standing on this side, the other side, I can tell you without a doubt that I did make it.
I continue to make it and you can too. I have learned to hang on when I felt I couldn’t catch my breath, to put one foot in front of the other and to choose to believe with all my being that God gives me strength because of Jesus Christ. Sometimes it is just enough strength for the moment, but each moment adds up to make another day; another day of overcoming; another day of choosing to really live.

"Days of Elijah"
We’ll begin our worship with this great song of proclamation by Robin Mark.
Robin Mark is a Christian singer, songwriter, and worship leader based out of Belfast. Robin has written several songs sung throughout the world. He is best known for the songs "Days of Elijah", "Revival", "All for Jesus", "The Wonderful Cross", "Not by Might" and many more. He has published 13 albums in total with sales of close to 2 million world-wide.
Though known within the The United Kingdom and throughout Canada from the early 1990's it was not until his 1999 live album Revival In Belfast that Robin became known in the United States, Australia and the rest of the world. His song “Days of Elijah” has become one of the most sung worship songs ever and his album Revival In Belfast has become a worldwide best seller with sales of over 400,000. Half of these sales were in the US where the album stayed in the top 50 worship albums sales chart for over four years and continues to be in the top 100. The album was certified gold in Canada in 2004 and in Australia in 2006, and it has also become one of the best selling worship albums ever in South Africa.

Matthew 14: 30-33 (NASB) But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind stopped. And those who were in the boat worshipped Him, saying, “You are certainly God’s Son!”
Rowe and Smith wrote this song in Saugatuck, Connecticut. According to Rowe’s daughter: “Howard E. Smith was a little man whose hands were so knotted with arthritis that you would wonder how he could use them at all, much less play the piano…I can see them now, my father striding up and down humming a bar or two and Howard E. playing it and jotting it down.”

"Are You Washed in the Blood"
This song was written by Elisha Hoffman. Hoffman (1839-1929) was an American minister and Gospel song and hymn writer who wrote the words and music for such familiar hymns as "Are You Washed in the Blood?," "I Must Tell Jesus," "Is Your All on the Altar?," and "What a Wonderful Saviour!"

“Let God Arise”
Hear the holy roar of God resound
Watch the waters part before us now
Come and see what He has done for us
Tell the world of His great love
Our God is a God who saves
Our God is a God who saves
Let God arise
Let God arise
Our God reigns now and forever
He reigns now and forever
His enemies will run for sure
The church will stand, she will endure
He holds the keys of life, our Lord
Death has no sting, no final word
This high-energy song was inspired by Psalm 68:1. The song affirms that death does not get the final word over humanity.

"Mighty To Save"
This is another song from the Hillsong music ministry in Sydney Australia. This song is by Reuben Morgan & Ben Fielding. This song has a great re-occuring text. "OUR GOD IS MIGHTY TO SAVE". This is taken from the passage in Zephaniah 3:17: “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."
