Tommy Walker

I have to tell you of my NEW favorite artist - Tommy Walker. I've actually admired his writing for a long time, but I've recently become convinced he is one of, if not THE most anointed worship songwriter today (I know, I know, Chris Tomlin, I know). His songs are so rich, and the music styles are so diverse. He goes from reggae to blues to staight-ahead rock, to soulful ballads, all with such deep, encouraging, and theology-rich lyrics. You MUST check out his latest projects - BREAK THROUGH and I HAVE A HOPE. Just about every song is a favorite.

I had the pleasure of visiting Tommy Walker at his home church last year - Christian Assembly in Los Angeles. He is so authentic - there is no show or pretend. He came right out, straped on his guitar, and with a "Good morning, Christian Assembly!", we were off and running - simple, genuine songs, no other focus. I also saw him in a concert at a conference last summer - again, it was much more a worship service than a concert. His songs are so singable and accessible, and FUN! If you feel like so much of today's worship music sounds the same , I encourage you to check him out.
